This is the day when he went away!

As a kid whenever I got news about someones death and asked the elders as to where the person has gone, the reply would always be that people return to God's home, from where all of us were sent...I would always be inquisitive about the fact that if God had to call us back, why did he sent us here in the first place...and the reason that I received was always quite prompt..."coz he wants to test us and our capability of being able to judge between good and evil, God wants to see if we really deserve to be with him in his beautiful abode called heaven!"
It's a very practical answer that we understand even better as mature adults, but whenever a life takes exit from the world, we do cry for them....we are simply human aren't we?
Today is the 12th of June...the day when Nana went away..far away from this world to the heavens above...its not been much time but it seems that ages have passed, but sometimes it also feels that he sits right next to me, talking to me through the beautiful memories that he left behind.
Our grandparents are a blessing and so are our parents, they are a wealth that makes us richer with each passing day, they are a prayer that keeps us blessed, they are the goodness that resides within us, its through them that we learn how to stand in this world and to differentiate between right and wrong...In fact they are God sent teachers who show us the right path in life.
Respect for ones elders would not only make us a good human being but also the one who'd gain heaven on earth.

  2. a post that is in the mind of probably every individual's thoughts..........your question as to why one has to be called back after being sent to the earth and the response given...is really a nice and apt one...I suppose it is also from your nana....

  3. The answer you received when you were young is a wonderful answer. You had very wise people around you when young. We always miss the ones we love and wonder if they are close to us. Another great post. Have a nice weekend.

  4. The answer you received was truly one of the best answers I've come across. I'm sorry to hear about your Nana's demise. It is true that grandparents are an asset and a blessing. It saddens me to see the rise of old age homes and broken homes without grandparents. I must admit you have surely had really intelligent people when you were young. Thanks a lot Sana for writing this!! I'm sure this will make your Nana proud enough to have a grand-daughter like you.

  5. Our life on earth is only a passing phase. And we go on living, like we're meant to live here forever. True, what you said, how much our parents and grandparents have to teach us and how much more we can learn from them.

  6. Certain memories of wise people are meant to be cherished for a lifetime. We do have little reminders in our everyday lives that takes us on such flashback journeys. I agree with Akshay when he says that the answer you received as a child is the best answer one can give. I must admit that you're really lucky to be surrounded by some wise and intelligent people when you were young. I'm sure that this post will make your Nana proud enough to have an intelligent grand-daughter like you.

  7. Thanks Amrit, Im glad it helped you too.

Yes Lakshmi, there are so many questions that we have in our mind, some have answers and some become our answers in the course of life .

Yes Margaret we always miss the one we love..it because we are so close to them that distances are not in our mind but when they occur we are taken aback.

Yes Akshay I totally agree with you...Its sad to see the rise of old age homes, its heart breaking indeed that such precious souls as ageying parents and grandparents are sent away...this sure takes the peace away from such thankless homes.

I agree with you RGB, that a beautiful comment,"Our life on earth is only a passing phase. And we go on living, like we're meant to live here forever." and when we face reality thats when we realise how mortal life really is.
